Dan Ryan is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ New York office. He is the regional leader for the Americas and head of Global Strategic Accounts for the firm. With more than 15 years of search and consulting experience, Dan specializes in senior level financial services placements, board and leadership advisory assignments.
Since joining the firm in 2003, he has completed over 500 assignments, playing a critical role in building the firm’s relationships with many of the world’s leading financial institutions. Dan focuses the majority of his efforts within the investment and corporate banking sectors, private equity, traditional and alternative asset management, and wealth management. In addition to working with large financial institutions, he has worked extensively with boutique and middle market investment banks, family offices, regional banks, hedge funds, and other investment management companies.
Dan has held leadership positions throughout Heidrick & Struggles, including America’s regional leader for the Financial Services Practice from 2014-2017 and partner-in-charge of the New York office from 2011-2018.
Dan joined Heidrick & Struggles from Citigroup where he was a consultant in the private client division. In this role, he worked with clients providing advice on a wide range of investment topics. Previously, Dan worked in Washington D.C. for the U.S. Export-Import Bank, an independent government agency providing financing to domestic exporters.
He is frequently quoted in leading news and business publications, including the Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, CNN Money, Bloomberg Markets Magazine and Business Insider, and is also a regular guest speaker on industry panels and at major universities. Dan is active in several not-for-profit organizations and is on the board of BritishAmerican Business and the Mianus River Gorge Preserve in Bedford, New York. Education:
Dan holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service in International Politics from The Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
