Mary MacDonald is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Chicago office. She is a member of the Insurance and Human Resources Officers practices and is lead consultant for human resources across all industries in the Midwest. Mary also works with clients across all segments of the insurance industry including property & casualty, life & annuities, employee benefits, health, and reinsurance across all functions. She is also a member of the Financial Services, CEO & Board, and Diversity Advisory practices. She has a passion for helping clients drive growth by attracting executive talent with the cultural understanding and skills to lead in a highly transformative talent landscape.
Throughout her fifteen years in executive search and consulting, Mary has led C-suite and senior-level assignments across all functions including board of directors, general management, finance, operations, insurance tech, risk management, actuarial, underwriting, marketing, distribution, and claims positions. Her portfolio of clients includes both public and mutual Fortune 500 companies, venture-backed start-ups, and private equity owned companies.
As a member of the Diversity Advisory Services Practice, she has a passion for driving growth for clients by attracting executives with the cultural understanding and skills to lead in a highly transformative talent landscape.<,>
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Mary led a division of a boutique insurance-specific recruiting firm based in Chicago.Education:
Mary earned a bachelor’s degree in English and pre-medicine from the University of Notre Dame and is a 2016 Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow.
