Alison Byers, Psy.D., is a Senior Advisor at Diversified Search. As a consultant, she can offer clients Assessment Services to gain a full leadership assessment of potential candidates and how they might fit within any given organization. Her main tool for this assessment is the Hogan Assessment System, designed to understand an individual’s strengths, weaknesses, values, and approach to problem-solving. Byers works across all sectors and practices and has a particular interest in the nonprofit sector. She often serves as a strategist on senior-level searches.
Prior to joining Diversified Search in 2012, Byers gained extensive clinical experience in juvenile rehabilitation and interpersonal trauma; she worked with the Adolescent Trauma Treatment Development Center and the Terrorism and Disaster Branch of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, and coordinated the Police-Mental Health Project within the Department of Psychiatry at North Shore University Hospital in New York. Byers also consulted with the Suffolk County Juvenile Probation Department and served as Clinical Director for a community health center. She also served as the Assistant Director for the Psychological Services Center at Long Island University.
Byers has also worked in private practice as a Clinical Psychologist, and served as an Adjunct Professor and supervised doctoral students at LIU. She is a Co-Founder and Board Member at the Russell Byers Charter School, named for her late father, in Philadelphia; the school emphasizes Russell Byers’ belief in fostering academic excellence, civic responsibility, and community service. She also serves as a Board Member of the Richard King Mellon and Richard King Mellon Family Foundations.
