Teraesa Vinson, Ph.D., is a principal in Heidrick & Struggles’ Los Angeles office, specializing in assessment within the CEO & Board Practice. Aiding in crafting the assessment strategy for the practice, she is responsible for administering assessments to executive search candidates, as well as translating those results for client decision-makers.
Teraesa came to Heidrick & Struggles from another global talent management firm, where she served as an internal and external subject matter expert. She was responsible for marketing, administration, interpretation, and training related to proprietary leadership assessment tools, and was also instrumental in providing quality control for assessment-related projects in leadership development and executive recruitment. Additionally, she led multiple teams in the internal scientific institute, managing strategy around specific data systems and intellectual property development.
As a licensed psychologist, Teraesa brings substantial psychological training and experience to her corporate roles, with almost 20 years of assessment practice, consultation, and providing supervision within academic, medical, forensic and social service settings.
Prior to entering executive search, Teraesa was a clinical professor at Teachers College, Columbia University. There, her primary focus involved training in the selection, administration, and interpretation of psychological assessment instruments at the graduate level. She also previously held academic positions at the University of Florida and City University of New York. Education:
Teraesa earned a doctor of philosophy and master of science degree in counseling psychology from the University of Florida and a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
