Michael M Cullen is the Chief Operating Officer of Heidrick & Struggles. He has overall responsibility for IT, Marketing, Practice Operations, and the Knowledge Management Center. He also leads executive search across the firm’s three global regions: Europe and Africa, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, and the Americas. Additionally, Michael is a strategic talent adviser for a select group of companies.
Prior to becoming COO, Michael held various leadership roles within Heidrick & Struggles. Most recently he was the global practice managing partner for the Technology & Services Practice, overseeing one of the premier technology and services search practices in the world.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Michael was the Head of the Office of Executive Talent at EMC Corporation (now Dell EMC). Michael, who joined EMC in 2000, was responsible for EMC’s executive hiring, movement and career guidance. He provided support to the Chief Executive Officer and the executive team. During his tenure at EMC, he was involved in the hiring of more than 300 executives globally as the company transformed from a hardware company to a solutions provider.Education:
Michael graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York with a BA, and received an MBA from Northeastern University. He also received certification in organization development from Columbia University and certification in leadership from Northeastern University.
