Ed Stout is a Managing Director and Practice Leader in the Healthcare Services Practice of The Diversified Search Group. He assumed this role in 2019, following Diversified Search’s acquisition of Grant Cooper.

Stout’s experience in healthcare client service spans more than a decade. As a consultant at McKinsey & Company, he led teams that served nationally recognized integrated delivery systems, as well as large for-profit and not-for-profit providers, advising on issues of strategy, revenue growth, operational efficiency, and physician alignment. He has helped architect and implement large-scale operational transformations at some of the largest hospital systems in the United States, and has provided subject matter expertise to hospital leaders in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Germany.

In 2008, Stout co-founded the McKinsey Hospital Institute (now Objective Health), a technology-enabled consulting solution for hospitals within McKinsey. There, he grew the team to nearly 40 employees and led all product development and client service. Stout joined Grant Cooper in 2012, where his searches have been national in scope, including clinical and non-clinical leaders for providers and other healthcare entities.

Prior to his work in executive search and leadership development, Stout spent five years as an officer in the United States Navy, serving on the attack submarines Sunfish and Jefferson City.
