Charles Pembroke is a principal in Heidrick & Struggles’ Chicago office and a member of the Global Industrial Practice. With a background in both operations and management consulting, he has deep expertise in building and developing high-performing teams. Chuck also has experience in succession planning and leadership development assignments.
Chuck focuses on c-suite, business unit and senior functional leaders in sales, marketing, strategy and innovation, operations, and supply chain in the North American market. Clients range from publicly-traded to privately-held and private equity-backed portfolio companies across manufacturing and distribution sectors including basic materials, paper and packaging, natural resources, engineered products, capital equipment, and industrial automation.
Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, Chuck was a partner with a global search firm in Chicago. Prior to his career in executive search, he had a 20-year career in the paper and packaging industry. Chuck was group vice president at Evergreen Packaging in Memphis, Tennessee. Before that, he spent 10 years in multiple leadership roles at International Paper. His operating experience includes general management, merger integration, strategic planning, corporate marketing, product innovation, process improvement, strategic account management, and a variety of sales and business development roles.
Previously, Chuck was a consultant with Towers Watson, focusing on strategy and organizational effectiveness advisory for clients in financial services, utilities, and pharmaceutical sectors. He began his career with a boutique management consulting firm providing strategic counsel to financial institutions in leveraged finance and commercial banking. Education:
Charles earned an MBA in finance and international business from Columbia Business School and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colgate University. He is certified in several leadership assessment methodologies.
